SYNOPSIS

Set in rural India in 2010, Last Film Show is a tribute to cinema and the wonder it inspires in all who experience its magic. After watching a film at the Galaxy Cinema, free-spirited young Samay has his world turned upside down when he falls deeply in love with movies. He begins stealing money from his father’s modest tea stall and skipping school to watch films. Alongside his friends, Samay sets out to create the 35mm film of his dreams.

When his father discovers his nine-year-old son’s “immoral obsession” with cinema, he punishes him and warns him to stay away from what he calls the “dirty world” of films. But for Samay, it is already too late—he is completely captivated. Determined to follow his passion, he crosses paths with Fazal, the projectionist at the Galaxy Cinema. They strike a deal: Samay brings him the delicious food lovingly prepared by his mother, and in return, Fazal allows him to watch films all day from the projection booth.

What begins as a “food for films” exchange soon grows into a deep and lasting friendship. But the unlikely pair must face painful choices as a sweeping era of change transforms the country—and their dreams forever.
